About

pchgs_logoThe Piatt County Historical & Genealogical Society was organized in 1980 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The Society’s library and research space is located in the Piatt County Office Building (formerly the Old Kirby Hospital) in Monticello, Illinois.

Member meetings are held quarterly (March, June, September, and December), on the first Tuesday of those months at 7:00 p.m. Meeting locations are announced in the Piatt County Journal-Republican, and on our Facebook page. Programs are normally presented at the meetings on topics of interest pertaining to history and genealogy. The public is welcome to attend any of our member meetings.

Our Mission: The Society members strive to learn about and preserve the history of Piatt County for future generations. Members copy, index and make available many local records. The Society encourages donations of family records, church and school records, abstracts, old newspapers and military records. We also urge everyone to donate copies of their researched material in paper or electronic form.
